SB3577 Summary

• Authorizes the Department of Central Management Services to direct, review, and make final decisions regarding the purchase, standardization, and use of information technology equipment and resources by all State agencies.

• Replaces the outdated term "electronic data processing equipment" with the broader term "information technology equipment and resources" throughout the Department of Central Management Services Law.

• Defines "information technology equipment and resources" to include telecommunications and communications services, data processing, voice/video/data hardware and software, networking, mainframe and personal computing hardware, and Internet-based technologies.

• Allows the Department to delegate specific technology decisions to individual State agencies on a case-by-case basis with prior approval from the Director.

• Effective January 1, 2011.
