IL SB3958

Amends the Unified Code of Corrections (730 ILCS 5/3-6-3) to authorize the Department of Corrections to prescribe rules and regulations for revoking good conduct credit awarded for meritorious service.

Establishes that the Director may award up to 180 days of additional good conduct credit for meritorious service, with restrictions on certain offenses (murder, sexual assault, terrorism, etc.).

Prohibits meritorious service credit awards on sentences for first degree murder, certain violent felonies, sexual offenses, and other enumerated crimes committed on or after specified dates.

Requires the Department to establish written determinations before awarding meritorious service credit, including verification of inmate eligibility and completion of required criteria.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
