Affirms commitment to supporting and improving health outcomes for people with developmental disabilities, particularly regarding obesity, diabetes, and hypertension.

Notes that 57% of residents in Illinois community-based residential programs were classified as overweight or obese, and approximately one-third of individuals with developmental disabilities report fair or poor health.

Urges all service providers to adopt preventative health practices and work with individuals they serve to improve health outcomes.

Encourages the Department of Human Services Division of Developmental Disabilities to develop health-related outcomes and standards as part of its quality management and monitoring efforts.
