Calls on the Federal Trade Commission to strengthen labeling requirements for CFL packaging to provide detailed information about mercury and lead content.

Requests that CFL packaging labels advise consumers to recycle spent CFLs rather than dispose of them in household trash to prevent mercury release to the environment.

Notes that CFLs contain small amounts of mercury sealed within glass tubing and that convenient recycling facilities for spent CFLs are not widely accessible.
