Dorothy Boyd Sinclair of Peoria died on May 20, 2010; she was born April 21, 1929, in Adairsville, Georgia.

Earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Georgia College and State University and a master's degree in chemistry from Wellesley University; elected to Sigma Xi scientific society.

Served on Peoria City Council as a council-at-large member from 1975 to 1991, re-elected 4 times, and ran unsuccessfully for mayor in 1989.

Active in civic organizations including League of Women Voters of Peoria, American Association of University Women, and Peoria Women's Club; served as administrative head of Peoria Historical Society and promoted historic trolley tours.

Received numerous awards including the Rhodell Owens Award, YWCA Legend and Outstanding Achievement Professions Award, Betty Osborne Award, and Universalist Unitarian Church Outstanding Service Award; survived by her husband, daughter Claudia, and son Ian.
