Illinois Senate mourns the death of Samuel J. Van Scoyoc, Sr. of Bloomington, who passed away on July 3, 2010.

Van Scoyoc served as a medic in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964, including service in Vietnam, and earned a bachelor's degree from Illinois State University in special education.

Held significant career positions in pharmaceutical sales, banking, and marketing, including roles at Parke Davis, Bloomington Federal Savings and Loan, The Pantagraph, and State Farm Bank.

Served in numerous civic leadership roles including president of the local Jaycees chapter, 25-year treasurer of the McLean County American Heart Association, and member of the ISU Alumni Board and Foundation Board.

Survived by his wife Norma, four children, seven grandchildren, and his aunt; a suitable copy of this resolution will be presented to his family as an expression of sympathy.
