Anthony Nemetz of Waukegan passed away on July 18, 2010, at age 91; he was born December 14, 1918, in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Served as an infantryman in the U.S. Army during World War II, participated in the Battle of the Bulge in winter 1944-45, and suffered a shrapnel wound.

After the war, worked as a Sears salesman, then started businesses manufacturing aluminum storm windows and a general contracting company that built homes throughout Lake County.

Was a talented musician who played in a local tambouritzan orchestra, enjoyed playing organ, and was an avid sports fan and Democrat who actively followed Chicago sports teams and politics.

Illinois Senate mourns his passing and extends sympathy to his surviving family, including his son Robert Anthony Nemetz, daughter-in-law Margaret "Peggy" Nottingham Nemetz, nephews, and cousins.
