Delores Hutt Longley passed away on August 7, 2010, and the Illinois Senate memorializes her life and legacy.

Served 38 years in the St. Louis Public School system as a teacher, principal of three elementary schools, and administrator.

Directed the St. Louis Public School system's Desegregation Office, managing the school system's desegregation plan in response to court orders and helping schools develop curriculum to meet desegregation needs.

Continued her commitment to education and civil rights after retirement by serving as a consultant at Maryville University and held memberships in professional education honor societies and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

Survived by her husband of 65 years James Longley, two children, three grandchildren, one sister, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
