Illinois Senate mourns the death of Evans Demos Archos of Lakewood, who passed away on August 9, 2010.

Archos was born in Valtetsi, Arcadia, Greece in 1935 and emigrated to the United States in 1955 to pursue the American dream.

Opened The John Evans Restaurant in Evanston in 1958 with his brother and cousin, and later established the John Evans Inn Restaurant and Banquet Facility in Crystal Lake, which operated for over 3 decades before closing in 2001.

Served his community as a past president and member of the Valtetsion Society, Lions Club, Masons, Shriners, Restaurant Association of Illinois, and co-founded Saint Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church of Palatine and Saint Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church of Elgin.

Survived by his wife of 42 years, Demetra E. Archos; two daughters; five siblings; and numerous other family members and friends.
