Richard D. Holtfreter of Harvard passed away on June 20, 2010; he was born February 12, 1936, in Woodstock to Albert Holtfreter and Emma Phillipina Phillip.

Served as wrestling coach at Harvard High School from 1979 to 1987, compiling 11 State placewinners, 2 State individual champions, and tied for the Class A State Wrestling Tournament team title in 1983.

Worked as a physical education teacher and coached baseball, basketball, and track at different times before retiring in 1987; inducted into the Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association Hall of Fame.

Held memberships in the Retired Teacher Association, Athletic Director Association, Harvard Moose, Jaycees, and Elks; served as past president of the Lions and as a city councilman for Harvard.

Survived by his wife Phyllis, three children (Cynthia, Mark, and David), four grandchildren (Cassidy, Logan, Kenzie, and Kearra), and two sisters (Jeanette Wesemann and Carol Jarnecke).
