• Honors Hinsdale Deputy Fire Chief Mark P. Johnson, who died in the line of duty on September 20, 2010.

• Johnson joined the Hinsdale Fire Department in February 1986 and was promoted to lieutenant (October 2001), captain (May 2003), and deputy chief (May 2008).

• Served as the department's training officer and paramedic coordinator; voluntarily enrolled in the Good Samaritan Paramedic program in 1988 as one of the first paramedic/firefighters in the department.

• Held degrees including an associate's in fire science from College of DuPage, bachelor's in fire science from Southern Illinois University, and bachelor's in psychology from University of Illinois Chicago.

• Illinois Senate expresses condolences to his surviving family including his wife Cheryl, son Matthew, and extended family members.
