Thomas M. "T.O." Opitz of Grayslake passed away on October 2, 2010, and the Illinois Senate expresses condolences to his family and friends.

Opitz was born January 8, 1943 in Waukegan and retired from NSSD Waukegan Plant in February 2010 with plans to spend his retirement playing golf.

He was known as a free-spirited man who greeted friends and strangers with a smile, and was an avid fan of the Cubs, Bears, and Bulls who bowled with Roy's Boys at Bertrand Lanes.

Opitz is survived by his wife Barbara, son Steven, granddaughters Toni and Cydney, and numerous cousins and in-laws.

The Senate directs that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Opitz family as a symbol of sincere sympathy.
