Illinois Senate mourns the death of Nelson Wayne "Sonny" Falter of Carlinville, who died on August 22, 2010.

Falter was born June 19, 1938, in Reader and married Shirley L. Imel on April 19, 1958, at Zion Lutheran Church in Carlinville.

Worked as a grain farmer and served 23 years as supervisor of the prep plant at Monterey Coal Mine before retiring in 1993, plus 10 years with the Illinois Department of Agriculture's Bureau of Weights and Measures.

Graduated from Carlinville High School in 1956 and is survived by his wife Shirley, two children, six grandchildren, and several siblings and step-siblings.

Senate directs that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Falter's family as an expression of sympathy.
