Bruno Bartoszek of Aurora died on November 1, 2010, at 88 years old after being born February 27, 1922, in Toporow, Poland.

Served in Polish Army's 2nd Corps, 3rd Carpathian Division under British command from 1942, fighting in Libya, Italy, Iran, Iraq, Palestine, Egypt, and Lebanon, including the Battle of Monte Cassino in May 1944.

Awarded multiple military medals including the Virtuti Militari (Polish equivalent to Medal of Honor), Army Medal, 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, Defense Medal, and Cross of Monte Cassino Medal.

Worked at Aurora Pump, Burlington Northern Railroad, and Prudential Insurance Company before retiring, and served as Grand Marshal for Aurora's Fourth of July parade in 1996.

Survived by wife Wanda, daughter Annette, son Jack, three grandchildren, sister Angela, half-brothers Casmir and Stanley, and numerous nieces and nephews.
