U.S. Marine Corps Lance Corporal James Bray Stack of Arlington Heights was killed in the line of duty on November 10, 2010, in the Sangin District of Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

Stack was born July 11, 1990, in Schaumburg, and was a nationally ranked competitive shooter and 2008 Junior Olympics Gold Medalist for Air Pistol.

Stack served as a rifleman with India Company (2nd Platoon) of the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment with the 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, California.

Stack received the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, and Afghanistan Campaign Medal.

The Illinois Senate memorializes Lance Corporal Stack and honors his service and ultimate sacrifice, with a copy of the resolution to be presented to his family.
