United States Army Private First Class Andrew N. Meari of Plainfield was killed in action on November 1, 2010, in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

PFC Meari was born September 14, 1989, in Chicago, and graduated early from Port Washington High School in Wisconsin before joining the U.S. Army in October 2008.

Served with Company A, 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry, 2nd Brigade Combat Team of the 101st Airborne Division out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Combat Infantry Badge.

Illinois Senate mourns PFC Meari's passing and directs that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as a symbol of sympathy.
