IL HB1223

Amends the Election Code Section 10-9 to expand the jurisdiction of county officers electoral boards to hear objections to nominations for municipal offices and school or community college district offices.

Eliminates the separate municipal officers electoral board (section 3) and education officers electoral board (section 5) by striking those provisions and making their functions part of the county officers electoral board.

The county officers electoral board continues to consist of the county clerk (or designee), State's attorney (or designee), and circuit court clerk (or designee), with the county clerk serving as chairman.

Maintains existing provisions for board member eligibility and replacement procedures when board members are candidates for the offices under review.

Applies to candidates for municipal offices and offices in school or community college districts within county jurisdiction, consolidating multiple electoral boards into a single county-level body.
