IL HB1262

Amends the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Law to require the Department to contact businesses located in Illinois or identified as having left the state in the last 10 years.

Businesses must complete a survey developed by the Department requesting information on why they left (if applicable), their relocation destination, and what incentives are needed to keep and attract businesses.

Department shall compile survey results and report to the General Assembly by July 1 each year, identifying the most common responses categorized by industry and region regarding business departures, retention incentives, and relocation destinations.

Defines "business" to include manufacturing, processing, assembling, warehousing, distributing, research and development, tourism services, interstate commerce services, office industries, and agricultural processing, but excludes retail, retail food, health, and professional services.

Department shall adopt rules for implementation; act takes effect upon becoming law.
