HB1340 - Tourism Task Force Act

• Creates a 19-member Tourism Task Force with one Governor-appointed chair, legislative appointees from Senate and House leadership, and 14 private sector representatives from lodging, restaurants, wineries, gaming, campgrounds, and other tourism industries.

• Designates 11 state agency directors and officials as ex-officio members including the Directors of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, Natural Resources, Transportation, and Historic Sites and Preservation.

• Requires the task force to review and catalog all state government policies, programs, and initiatives affecting Illinois tourism and provide recommendations to the General Assembly and Governor on how to expand or coordinate programs.

• Directs the task force to file annual reports with the General Assembly documenting findings and recommendations, and to monitor whether implemented recommendations achieve positive economic development effects.

• Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity provides administrative and staff support to the task force, with members serving without compensation except for reimbursed expenses.
