IL HB1414

Amends the School Code to require the State Board of Education to add two new line items to its annual budget proposal for after-school programs funding

Creates a line item equal to 2% of the After-school Programs, Mentoring and Student Support (ASPMSS) budget for monitoring, administration, and technical assistance for after-school providers

Creates a line item equal to 4% of the ASPMSS budget for grants to qualified statewide non-profit agencies to provide capacity building, system development, training, and professional development services

Requires the State Board to annually reassess these two additional line items to ensure they meet actual costs

Directs grants to after-school programs determined to be in greatest need, with capacity building providers required to demonstrate knowledge of evidence-based practices, cultural competence, and stakeholder review mechanisms
