HB1481 Summary

• Amends the Counties Code and Community Mental Health Act to allow counties (except Cook County and counties bordering Cook County) to share administrative leadership between county health departments and community mental health boards.

• Permits county boards of health to appoint the administrator of county community mental health services and facilities as the medical health officer or public health administrator of the county health department.

• Permits community mental health boards to appoint the county medical health officer or public health administrator as the administrator of county community mental health services and facilities.

• Enables administrative efficiencies by allowing a single executive to serve both organizations in counties with both a county health department and a community mental health board.
