IL HB1483

Amends the Food Handling Regulation Enforcement Act to add two new sections exempting certain food service activities from health department regulation.

Prohibits the Illinois Department of Public Health and local health departments from regulating food service at charitable fundraising events sponsored by fraternal or religious organizations conducted to raise funds.

Prohibits the Illinois Department of Public Health and local health departments from regulating food service at farmers markets where regional farmers and food vendors sell produce and other food items to the public.

Applies these exemptions notwithstanding any other provision of law, effectively preempting existing food safety regulations for these two categories of food sales.
