IL HB1967

Amends the Criminal Code of 1961 to add a new category to aggravated intimidation offense under Section 12-6.2.

Creates aggravated intimidation charges when a person intimidates a civilian who reported information about a forcible felony to law enforcement, and the intimidation is committed because of that report.

Establishes aggravated intimidation as a Class 2 felony with sentencing of 3 to 14 years imprisonment for this new offense category.

Expands the definition of protected victims under aggravated intimidation to include civilians reporting forcible felonies, in addition to peace officers, correctional employees, firefighters, and community policing volunteers.
