IL HB2008

Amends Section 7-10.1 of the Illinois Election Code regarding candidate statements required with petitions or certificates of nomination.

Requires candidates to affirm under oath that they are not affiliated directly or indirectly with any terrorist organization or terrorist front organization.

Replaces the previous requirement referencing "communist organization" with "terrorist organization" in the candidate's sworn statement.

Maintains existing language requiring candidates to affirm they do not teach or advocate the overthrow of the U.S. or Illinois government by force or unlawful means.

Statement must be sworn before a notary public or officer authorized to take acknowledgments of deeds in Illinois.
