IL HB2854

Amends the Illinois Election Code to allow candidates to pay a filing fee instead of submitting a petition for nomination.

Filing fee equals 1% of the annual salary for the office sought, or $50 for non-salaried positions.

Applies to candidates for all offices including state, congressional, county, municipal, township, judicial, and party committeeperson positions.

Modifies Sections 7-10, 7-12, 10-4, and 10-6.1 of the Election Code to implement the alternative filing fee option.
