IL HB2890

Amends the Illinois School Code Section 17-1 to require school districts with under 500,000 inhabitants to dedicate 85% of State funding under the State aid formula to classroom teaching-related objects and purposes beginning with the 2012-2013 school year.

Designates the State Board of Education to determine by rule which specific objects and purposes qualify as classroom teaching-related.

Applies to State funding under Section 18-8.05 of the School Code.

Maintains existing budget requirements including annual balanced budget adoption, public hearings, and 30-day public inspection periods.
