IL HB2947

Amends the Unified Code of Corrections to make sentences for sex offenses indeterminate with respect to maximum sentence imposed, applying to offenses committed on or after the effective date.

Requires courts to determine at least 30 days before completion of a sex offender's sentence (excluding mandatory supervised release) whether the offender poses a danger to the public.

Authorizes courts to extend a sex offender's sentence for any period deemed appropriate if the court determines the offender poses a danger to the public.

Permits courts to revoke probation, conditional discharge, or supervision for sex offenders and resentence them to imprisonment if continuing such supervision would pose a danger to the public.

Defines "sex offense" as any offense listed in Section 2 of the Sex Offender Registration Act.
