Allows collaborating physicians or podiatrists to delegate prescriptive authority to advanced practice nurses as part of a written collaborative agreement, but delegation is optional.

Expands controlled substance prescribing authority to include Schedule II through V controlled substances (previously limited to Schedule III through V).

Requires advanced practice nurses to obtain a mid-level practitioner controlled substance license to prescribe controlled substances and requires collaborating physicians or podiatrists to have valid Illinois controlled substance licenses and federal registration.

Requires collaborating physicians or podiatrists to file notice with the Department of delegation and termination of prescriptive authority, and removes previous restrictions on Schedule II substance delegation (such as limiting oral dosages to 5 substances and 30-day supplies).

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
