IL HB3249

Amends the Wildlife Code (520 ILCS 5/2.37) to allow permitees authorized to control nuisance or damaging deer to have usable carcasses processed at licensed meat facilities and donate the venison to food pantries or recognized charitable organizations.

Requires processing at State or federally licensed and inspected meat processing facilities, unless the Department currently requires the permittee to donate the venison.

Mandates that unusable deer carcasses be disposed of according to the Illinois Dead Animal Disposal Act or given to bona fide public or State scientific, educational, or zoological institutions.

Maintains existing permit requirements for deer damage control, including a permit period of up to 90 days and written notification to the Department within 10 days after permit expiration listing the number of deer taken and their disposition.
