HB3549 Summary

• Amends the University of Illinois Hospital Act, Ambulatory Surgical Treatment Center Act, and Hospital Licensing Act to require disclosure when placing bone, organs, human tissue, or foreign objects (including artificial joints and prostheses) into a patient's body.

• Requires hospitals and ambulatory surgical treatment centers to disclose to patients the source of the implanted material, the date it was obtained, the date it was placed, and the location of placement in the patient's body.

• Applies the same disclosure requirements uniformly across University of Illinois Hospital, ambulatory surgical treatment centers, and all licensed hospitals in Illinois.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
