IL HB3598

Amends the Lead Poisoning Prevention Act to require owners of residential buildings or dwelling units built before 1978 to provide prospective purchasers with information on potential health hazards posed by lead before entering into a sale agreement.

Requires sellers to provide prospective purchasers with an informational brochure about lead hazards prepared by the Department of Public Health.

Mandates disclosure to purchasers regarding the presence of any known lead-based paint or lead-based paint hazards and requires sellers to provide any available lead hazard evaluation reports or records.

Requires every residential purchase contract for pre-1978 buildings to include a statement signed by the purchaser confirming receipt of the lead hazard information brochure and either information on known lead hazards or a seller's written statement that no lead hazards are known to exist.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
