IL HB4016

Amends the Illinois School Code to add the current Illinois Teacher of the Year (named by the State Board of Education) as a member of the Illinois P-20 Council.

The Teacher of the Year becomes a voting member alongside other council members including the Governor, legislators, business representatives, and education professionals.

The Illinois P-20 Council coordinates pre-kindergarten through graduate school education and makes recommendations on curriculum alignment, assessment standards, college readiness, and graduation rates.

Council is staffed by the Governor's Office in coordination with state agencies and supported by the Illinois Education Research Council for data collection and research.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
