IL HB4144

Amends the Counties Code Section 5-1028 to expand the use of ambulance service tax proceeds in non-home rule counties.

Allows tax revenue levied for emergency ambulance services to be used for "other emergency purposes" not paid from general funds, in addition to ambulance service expenses.

Maintains the existing tax cap of not more than 0.25% of equalized or assessed property value and requires voter approval via referendum before implementation.

Tax proceeds remain excluded from statutory tax rate limitations and are in addition to other county taxes.

Effective immediately upon becoming law.
