IL HB4148

Amends the Illinois Municipal Code Section 8-11-6a to allow home rule municipalities with populations exceeding 2,000,000 to impose taxes on parking lot, garage, or other parking facility use when consideration is provided.

Amends the Counties Code Section 5-1009 to allow home rule counties to impose taxes on parking lot, garage, or other parking facility use when consideration is provided.

Both amendments are contingent on House Bill 5547 of the 97th General Assembly becoming law as engrossed.

Clarifies that parking facility taxes are permitted exceptions to the general prohibition on home rule unit taxes based on gross receipts or purchase prices of tangible personal property.
