• Administrative certificates valid for 5 years may be issued to persons with a master's degree from a regionally accredited institution who complete an approved preparation program.

• Certificate holders must complete 100 hours of continuing professional development activities (minimum 5 activities per validity period) and participate annually in Illinois Administrators' Academy courses totaling at least 30 hours during the certificate's validity period.

• Administrative certificates may be renewed every 5 years, or aligned with Standard or Master Teaching Certificate renewal periods if the holder possesses both certificates.

• Five endorsement types are established: general supervisory, general administrative, principal, chief school business official, and superintendent, each with specific education and experience requirements.

• The principal endorsement requires completion of an approved principal preparation program, 4 years of teaching experience (or fewer based on demonstrated qualifications), and a master's degree.
