Illinois Community College Board State Board membership expanded to require one member be a president of a public community college, effective upon passage of this act.

State Board consists of 12 total members: one nonvoting student member serving a one-year term and 11 voting members appointed by the Governor with Senate consent.

Among the 11 Governor-appointed members, requirements include one senior citizen age 60 or over, one faculty member at an Illinois public community college (beginning July 1, 2005), and one board member of a public community college district (beginning July 1, 2005).

Members appointed under this act serve six-year terms; successors also serve six-year terms until their replacements are qualified and seated.

Governor may make temporary appointments to fill vacancies occurring during Senate recesses, with permanent appointments confirmed by the Senate at its next meeting.
