Office of the State Fire Marshal shall develop, adopt, or approve a training course on autism risks and appropriate autism recognition and response techniques.

All persons seeking firefighter 1 or 2 certification with duties involving fire suppression, firefighting, or fire rescue must satisfactorily complete autism recognition and response training.

Department of Public Health shall develop, adopt, or approve a training course on autism risks and recognition techniques for emergency medical technicians.

Emergency medical technicians must complete the autism training course before certification and currently certified EMTs must complete continuing education in autism recognition within 18 months.

Training may be delivered via Internet, DVD, CD ROM, or classroom instruction, with no train-the-trainer requirement, and the Act takes effect immediately upon passage.
