IL HB5223

Amends the Unified Code of Corrections to change where parole agents and parole supervisors register their off-duty firearms from the Illinois Department of State Police to the agency employing them.

Requires parole agents and supervisors to complete firearms training conducted by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board and requalify annually at a state certified range, with retraining expenses paid by the employee.

Prohibits parole agents and supervisors from carrying Illinois Department of Corrections-issued firearms while off-duty, with violations subject to disciplinary action.

Provides that parole agents and supervisors who are discharged from employment have all law enforcement rights permanently revoked.
