IL HB5227

Amends the School Construction Law (105 ILCS 230/5-30) to expand prioritization criteria for school construction projects.

Adds rehabilitation of aging school buildings to the list of priority projects for alleviating classroom shortages, alongside replacement of aging buildings.

Adds rehabilitation of school facilities determined to be severe and continuing health or life safety hazards to the priority project list, alongside replacement and reconstruction of such facilities.

Takes effect on June 1, 2012.
