• Defines "fire pump assembly" as fire pumps, jockey pumps, and pump controllers, excluding interconnected pipes, fittings, valves, and other similar parts attached to the automatic fire sprinkler system.

• Requires fire sprinkler contractors seeking license renewal to provide evidence of at least one fire sprinkler permit legally issued to them for each of the 2 prior calendar years, excluding work solely limited to fire pump assembly.

• Authorizes the State Fire Marshal to refuse to issue a license if the designated party has a history of acting illegally, fraudulently, incompetently, or with gross negligence.

• Exempts pump tests performed by individuals certified by the pump manufacturer from the general inspection and testing certification requirements.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
