HB5296 Summary

• Requires all eight public universities in Illinois (University of Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois University, and Western Illinois University) to notify students in writing of any new fees or fee changes as soon as practical after the governing board approves them.

• Adds identical fee notification requirements to each university's governing statute by creating new sections across eight separate Illinois Compiled Statutes codes.

• Effective date is July 1, 2012.
