IL HB5324

Amends Section 14-2 of the Illinois School Code regarding definitions of general education classrooms for special education students.

Prohibits the State Board of Education from defining a general education classroom based on a specific percentage of students with individualized education programs (IEPs).

Removes previous language that excluded students receiving only speech services outside the general education classroom from IEP counts.

Eliminates previous requirement that school districts ensure classroom composition does not interfere with provision of free and appropriate public education.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
