Amends Section 12-709 of the Illinois Vehicle Code to add mopeds to the list of vehicles required to display a slow-moving vehicle emblem while operating on a highway.

Mopeds must display the emblem on the rear of the vehicle, consistent with existing requirements for animal-drawn vehicles, farm tractors, implements of husbandry, and special mobile equipment.

Emblem specifications and mounting requirements must meet American Society of Agricultural Engineers standards (ASAE S 276.5 as of September 1, 2004).

Slow-moving vehicle emblems are designated as safety identification devices and may not be displayed on any vehicle or in any manner other than as specified in the statute.

Unauthorized display of a slow-moving vehicle emblem is a petty offense punishable by a fine of $25 for the first offense and $75 for a second or subsequent offense within one year.
