During the first 6 months of a supervisor of assessments' first term in counties under 600,000 inhabitants, the county board may remove them for any reason by a 2/3 vote; thereafter, removal is limited to misfeasance, malfeasance, or nonfeasance.

County superintendents of highways in counties under 600,000 inhabitants shall serve 4-year terms instead of 6-year terms.

During the first 6 months of a newly appointed county superintendent of highways' term in counties under 600,000 inhabitants, the county board may dismiss them for any reason by a 2/3 vote; thereafter, removal requires a 2/3 vote for incompetence, neglect of duty, or malfeasance.

A dismissed supervisor of assessments may request a hearing within 21 days and the county board may reverse dismissal by majority vote.

The Act becomes effective immediately upon becoming law.
