Requires Secretary of State to inquire whether applicants for state identification cards or driver's licenses are veterans and to issue cards/licenses with a "veteran" designation for those who served on active duty and were discharged or separated under honorable conditions.

Defines "veteran," "active duty," and "armed forces" for purposes of the veteran designation on identification documents.

Authorizes Secretary of State to determine acceptable forms of proof of veteran status, including Department of Defense form DD-214 and other documentation to be specified by rule.

Allows Secretary of State to disclose individuals' social security numbers to the Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs solely for the purpose of confirming veteran status.

Takes effect January 1, 2013.
