Amends the Illinois Police Training Act to include coroners in the death and homicide investigation training program conducted or approved by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board

Requires coroners who successfully complete the training program to obtain a certificate before serving as lead investigators in coroner's investigations

Establishes a waiver process allowing local law enforcement agencies and coroner's offices to request waivers for officers or coroners with prior training and experience as homicide investigators

Clarifies that the training requirement does not affect or limit the coroner's existing statutory powers to investigate all deaths under Division 3-3 of the Counties Code
