IL HB5695

Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code to require coverage of over-the-counter medications when prescribed by a physician, physician's assistant, nurse practitioner, or other qualified medical care provider to medical assistance recipients.

Requires pharmacies to be reimbursed at the same rate as prescription medications for providing prescribed over-the-counter medications under the state's medical assistance program.

Directs the Department of Healthcare and Family Services to establish guidelines and standards by administrative rule for documentation requirements when medical care providers prescribe over-the-counter medications to aid recipients.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
