IL HB5790

Amends the Illinois Pension Code to eliminate service credit for unused sick leave for new participants in the State Employee, State Universities, and Downstate Teacher pension systems who first participate on or after the effective date of this act.

Existing participants who first joined these systems before the effective date retain eligibility to receive service credit for accumulated unused sick leave under current rules.

Applies to three pension articles: State Employees (Section 14-106), State Universities (Section 15-113.4), and Downstate Teachers (Section 16-127).

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
