IL HB5813

Amends the Local Governmental and Governmental Employees Tort Immunity Act to expand the definition of "local public entity" in the Fire Protection and Rescue Services Article.

Includes private persons, organizations, and corporations that provide support or assistance to fire departments, fire protection districts, or rescue squad districts during emergencies as "local public entities."

Applies only when assistance is provided at the specific request of a fire chief or the chief's designee pursuant to a formal mutual aid system such as the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System.

Extends tort immunity protections to private entities assisting in emergency response through formal mutual aid agreements with governmental fire and rescue services.
