IL HB5820

Establishes the General Accounting Office as a legislative support services agency under the Legislative Commission Reorganization Act of 1984.

Requires the General Accounting Office to conduct thorough reviews of each State executive branch program regarding its relevance, efficiency, and effectiveness in achieving statutory goals and requirements.

Mandates the Office submit written reports at least annually to the General Assembly recommending elimination of obsolete or ineffective programs, consolidation of duplicative programs, and improvements to program performance.

Requires the Auditor General and all State agencies to cooperate with and provide requested information to the Office to enable it to perform its functions and duties.
